Luke 7
Overview
7:1 Christ finds a greater faith in the centurion, a Gentile than in any of the Jews;
7:10 heals his servant, being absent;
7:11 raises from death the widow's son at Nain;
7:18 answers John's messengers with the declaration of his miracles;
7:24 testifies to the people what opinion he held of John;
7:31 inveighs against the Jews, who with neither the manners of John nor of Jesus could be won;
7:36 and suffering his feet to be washed and anointed by a woman who was a sinner, he shows how he is a friend to sinners, to forgive them their sins, upon their repentance. But there is no indication in the gospel history, that Mary Magdalene was the sister of Lazarus; but on the contrary, it would appear that they were perfectly distinct persons, the sister of Lazarus residing at Bethany, while Mary Magdalene appears to have resided at Magdala, east of Jordan, a distance of nearly ninety miles. Add to this, that our Saviour seems to have been now in or near Nain, not at Bethany; and the woman appears from the recital to have been previously unknown to him.ReciprocalGenesis 29:13 - kissed; Exodus 18:7 - kissed; Song of Songs 8:1 - I would; Matthew 26:49 - kissed him; Luke 7:38 - and anointed Verse 46Ruth 3:3; 2 Samuel 14:2; Psalm 23:5, 104:15; Ecclesiastes 9:8; Daniel 10:3; Amos 6:6; Micah 6:15; Matthew 6:17Reciprocal26:7 - very; Luke 7:38 - and anointed; John 12:3 - anointed Verse 47HerLuke 7:42, 5:20, 5:21; Exodus 34:6, 34:7 whichIsaiah 1:18, 55:7; Ezekiel 16:63, 36:29-32; Micah 7:19; Acts 5:31; Romans 5:20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Timothy 1:14; 1 John 1:7 sheLuke 7:43; Matthew 10:37; John 21:15-17; 2 Corinthians 5:14; Galatians 5:6; Ephesians 6:24; Philippians 1:9; 1 John 3:18, 4:19, 5:3ReciprocalExodus 32:30 - Ye have; Psalm 32:5 - forgavest; 103:3 - forgiveth; Isaiah 29:24 - also; Matthew 9:2 - be; 20:16 - the last; Mark 2:5 - he said; Luke 1:77 - the; 7:41 - the one; 15:10 - one; 18:14 - went; John 21:7 - when; Romans 4:7 - General; 5:16 - but the free; 12:1 - by the; Ephesians 1:7 - the forgiveness; Colossians 1:14 - the; 1 Timothy 1:16 - for a; 1 John 2:12 - your Verse 48ThyMatthew 9:2; Mark 2:5ReciprocalExodus 34:7 - forgiving; Psalm 103:3 - forgiveth; Luke 5:20 - Man; Colossians 3:13 - even Verse 49WhoLuke 5:20, 5:21; Matthew 9:3; Mark 2:7ReciprocalMatthew 21:10 - Who Verse 50ThyLuke 8:18, 8:42, 8:48, 18:42; Habakkuk 2:4; Matthew 9:22; Mark 5:34, 10:52; Ephesians 2:8-10; James 2:14-26 goEcclesiastes 9:7; Romans 5:1, 5:2ReciprocalExodus 4:18 - Go in peace; 1 Samuel 1:17 - Go; 20:42 - Go in peace; 25:35 - Go up; 2 Kings 5:19 - Go in peace; Isaiah 57:2 - enter into; Matthew 5:4 - General; 8:10 - I have; 15:28 - be it; Luke 17:19 - thy faith
